Where is Abbott located?
Abbott's corporate headquarters is located in Lake County, IL, at Abbott Park, a suburb 40 miles north of Chicago. Abbott also has many locations throughout the United States and the world: California (Redwood City, Santa Clara, South Pasadena, Temecula), Texas (Austin, Dallas), Ohio (Columbus), New Jersey (East Windsor), Massachusetts (Worchester), Puerto Rico, Thailand, the Phillipines, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Germany, and Ireland. Furthermore, Abbott distributes products in more than 130 countries worldwide.
What intern/co-op assignments are available?
Internship assignments vary by year and by discipline. However, no matter what the assignment, it is guaranteed to be real work that will benefit both you and the company. Abbott does not currently offer co-op opportunities.
Does Abbott offer development/rotational programs?
Yes, Abbott's development program is called the Professional Development Program. It is a two year rotational program and participants must be geographically flexible.
What is the criteria for Abbott internships?
Intern selection is competitive and based on a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 point scale. Leadership abilities, extracurricular activities, relevant course work, and characteristics such as integrity, innovation, initiative, teamwork, and adaptability are considered. Students must have completed at least one year of college and must be enrolled in school the fall season following the potential internship.

What benefits are offered to interns/PDP's/regular employees?
PDP's are considered regular, full time employees. Full time employees at Abbott are offered competitive benefits that provide peace of mind and protection. While specific benefits and programs may vary by geographic location, Abbott offers comprehensive benefits to all employees around the world and constantly strives to enhance the balance of work and life.
Interns are eligible for the following Abbott benefits:
- Pay for each company-recognized holiday during time of employment.
- Product purchase at a discount.
- Time accrued toward the annuity retirement plan if later hired by Abbott.
- Participation in cash profit sharing if you are employed at Abbott on November 15.
- As a temporary employee, interns are not eligible for medical, dental, hospitalization or accident insurance. Job related injuries, however, are covered under Workers' Compensation for paid interns.

If I give my resume to a recruiter on campus, do I still need to submit it online?

Abbott's internship program provides college students with 12 weeks of supervised, practical work experience in areas directly related to their education and career goals. Will my internship lead to full-time employment?
We select talented undergraduate and graduate students with the intention of hiring them as full-time employees – evaluating candidates based on grade point average, leadership abilities, communication skills and relevant coursework – the same criteria used for entry-level employee selection. At the end of the internship, full-time employment is not guaranteed, but interns may apply to open positions.

How does the Professional Development Program work?
The Professional Development Program is a two-year program with four six month assignments, allowing participants to gain knowledge on the company as a whole as well as their discipline, all the while gaining leadership, technical and interpersonal skills. Does the rotational program guarantee me a full-time job upon completion?
There is no guarantee for a full-time position upon completion of the PDP. However, upon completion, PDP participants may apply to open positions.

Once I submit my resume, will I hear back from a recruiter?
We currently do not have the capability to personally respond to every resume/application we receive. However, if your qualifications and experience meet any open positions or the position you applied for, a recruiter may contact you to discuss the next steps.
What should I keep in mind when preparing for an interview?
