"We In The Abbott Family Have An Opportunity To Make a Difference"
John P. Howe, III, M.D., Project HOPE president and CEO, recently visited
Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan province near the epicenter of the massive
earthquake, and described how the "Abbott family"—of which his
organization feels a part—stepped up to provide help during this time of
crisis.
Abbott and its philanthropic foundation, the Abbott Fund, are working with
our humanitarian aid organization partners in providing U.S. $1 million in aid
in response to the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province in China.

Abbott is providing grant funding to strengthen the abilities of
organizations like Project HOPE to distribute relief supplies to people in
need. Abbott product donations include critical pharmaceutical and nutritional
products that can provide immediate relief and support ongoing recovery
efforts.
In addition, the Abbott people in our China affiliate have also worked very
hard to aid their countrymen, providing donations of money, products including
infant formula, and working to help rebuild a kindergarten in Dujiangyan,
Sichuan province, through the Shanghai Charity Foundation.
