Abbott Nutrition Shines at Food & Nutrition Expo
Abbott Nutrition showed it has its finger on the pulse of the nutrition
market at the American Dietetic Association (ADA) 2008 Food & Nutrition
Conference & Expo, held recently in Chicago, Illinois.
The ADA Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo is the largest nutrition
conference in the world. It attracts more than 10,000 registered dietitians and
nutrition scientists seeking cutting-edge research across the spectrum of the
field of dietetics, including children's nutrition and disease-fighting
nutrients.
The four-day event featured cutting-edge workshops to build professional
skills and expand use of Abbott Nutrition products, along with opportunities
for attendees to interface with influential key opinion leaders at the Abbott
Nutrition booth on the convention floor.
Other conference highlights included:
- Former Le Cordon Bleu Schools North America instructor Chef Stazi created a
variety of recipes using Abbott Nutrition products at a standing-room only
culinary demonstration, while Kathy West, senior scientist for
Glucerna, discussed real-life advantages of the recipes.
Glucerna Bread Pudding with blueberry topping won for healthiest
sample at the conference.
- American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) President
Kelly Tappenden, Ph.D., RD, presented the most recently published research on
prebiotics and probiotics at a continuing education event sponsored by Abbott
Nutrition and ASPEN.
- More than 6,000 attendees watched the ADA Foundation film that highlighted
recipients of the Abbott Nutrition Renal Research Award (a grant to support the
research and development of nutritional screening and assessment tools to
identify people at nutritional risk with chronic kidney disease) and Abbott
Nutrition's Award in Women's Health.
