Our broad offering of medical and surgical devices focuses on minimally invasive, fast and accurate treatment options that offer short recovery times and ultimately improve patient care. Abbott’s vascular business is poised for outstanding growth with support from our acquisition of Guidant Corporation’s vascular intervention and endovascular solutions businesses.
Abbott is an emerging leader in molecular diagnostics, one of the most promising new areas of medicine. By analyzing DNA, RNA and proteins at the molecular level, our leading-edge science and technologies are helping physicians diagnose disease faster, select appropriate therapies and monitor disease progression. Abbott’s molecular diagnostics business has gained access to significant discovery resources with the acquisition of Vysis and the long-term, strategic alliance formed with Celera.
We’ve made key acquisitions that have resulted in market-leading products like our FreeStyle glucose monitors. We've created rich pipelines, including high-potential products like the Xience V stent. And we've acquired outstanding technologies for the future, such as bioabsorbable stents and continuous glucose monitoring.
