Santosh Prabhu is divisional vice president of product development for Abbott's structural heart business. In this role, he leads the development of the full structural heart product portfolio, including transcatheter valve repair and replacement, structural interventions, and cardiac surgery products.
Prior to his current role, Santosh was the senior director of R&D for Abbott's structural heart division and was responsible for the development of Abbott's mitral and tricuspid repair technologies, MitraClip and TriClip. Santosh joined Guidant (now Abbott) in 2000 as a R&D engineer in the vascular business and held engineering and R&D management roles of increasing responsibilities before moving to the structural heart division in 2014.
Santosh holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India; a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Alabama; a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware; and an executive MBA from Santa Clara University.
